about

The group Deiseal, led by whistle player/composer Cormac Breatnach, had a huge influence on my playing, especially the album ‘The Long Long Note’. The title track, a play on the name of ‘The Long Note’ reel, seemed like a new genre of music to me, elevating the sound and the role of the humble ‘tin whistle’ to new, loftier heights. Cormac and I discussed a Whistle Walk video version of The Long Note, including my ideas that called for two whistles. As a result we are delighted to give you ‘The Longer Note’.
