about

I learned the first two tunes from Irish masses, which feature Irish language singing and traditional music; I have attended many, usually at a Fleadh; I have no other information on them. Hanna Williams accompanies me with the wonderful sound of the organ of St Giles’ church, Wrexham. The track concludes with ‘O’Carolan’s Concerto.’ Turlough O’Carolan (1670-1739) is one of the most celebrated of all Irish composers, a blind travelling harpist who wrote tunes for people who put him up or paid for his music.
