about

Both written for the 2011 Irish Sea Sessions, an annual event for a few years at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall that toured to Belfast, Derry and London, produced by my good friend Simon Glinn. Liverpool Remembers is an air in commemoration of the Great Hunger in the 1840s that saw over a million starving people flee Ireland to settle in or pass through my home city. The reel is a tribute to the ‘craic’ I had growing up in the Liverpool music scene, especially playing in the old Liverpool Irish Centre. I am joined here by David Munnelly on button accordion and Bernard O’Neill on double bass, both of whom performed in the 2011 Irish Sea Sessions.
